Terms of Sale and Use

These terms apply when you download, trial or buy TalkMate. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If something here seems unfair, tell us at [email protected].

The trial

TalkMate is free to use in full for 14 days from first launch. No account, no card, no reduced feature set — the trial is the whole product, so you can judge it on real work. The trial period is tracked on your own Mac.

When the trial ends the app stops dictating until you enter a licence key. Nothing you have already created is taken away: your transcripts, vocabulary and shortcuts stay on your machine and remain yours.

What you get when you buy

A licence costs A$29, paid once. It grants you a personal, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use TalkMate on Macs you own or control. It is not a subscription and it does not expire. You may reinstall as often as you like.

Updates are included at no extra cost. We do not currently charge for major versions, and if that ever changes your existing licence keeps working on the version line it was bought for.

What you may not do

• Share, resell, sublicense or publish your licence key.
• Deploy one licence across an organisation — talk to us about volume instead.
• Reverse engineer or circumvent the licence check, except where law expressly permits it.

If a key is shared publicly we may deactivate it. We will contact you first where we reasonably can.

Payment and refunds

Orders are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), which is the merchant of record and the seller on your invoice. Your contract of sale is with Paddle; your licence to use the software is with us. Paddle handles billing, currency conversion and applicable taxes.

You can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason, by writing to [email protected] or contacting Paddle directly. We would rather refund you than have you keep something you do not want. This sits alongside, and does not reduce, the consumer guarantees you have under Australian Consumer Law or the equivalent law where you live.

Your content

Everything you dictate is yours. We claim no rights over it, and because it never reaches us we could not exercise any. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.

Warranty and liability

TalkMate is provided as is. Speech recognition is imperfect by nature: it will sometimes mishear you, and you are responsible for reading what it writes before you send it. Do not rely on it unchecked where an error would be costly.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of these terms is limited to what you paid for your licence. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the non-excludable guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using TalkMate at any time by deleting it. We may terminate a licence if these terms are seriously breached — practically, that means key sharing or circumventing the licence check. If we terminate a licence you have not misused, we will refund it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts there have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of your local law.

Changes

We may update these terms for future purchases. The version in force when you bought your licence continues to govern that purchase.
